Good Friday Blues: The Passion of Jesus told in the key of the blues. GFB tells the story of the betrayal and death of Jesus, as written in the Gospel of John, framed by powerfully rendered blues and gospel music, laying musical images of slavery and Jim Crow against the familiar passion narrative. The Good Friday Blues will take you on a ride of love, devotion, friendship, betrayal, suffering and ultimate loss at the foot of the cross.
The Good Friday Blues is the Good Friday service at St. Mark's Church. The service includes the adoration of the cross and distribution of the reserved sacrament.
2013 marks the 12th year of this liturgy. Good Friday Blues is a collaboration between the former Suffragan Bishop of New York The Right Reverend Catherine Roskam and Ms. Jeannine Otis, Director of Music at St. Mark's Church.
